A round-table meeting took place on January 9 at the Jakarta Liaison Office of the Center for South East Asian Studies (CSEAS), with a number of Kyoto University alumni who are now residing in Indonesia. The meeting was attended by 15 participants, including the university's Executive Vice-President Yuzo Ohnishi, and Director of CSEAS, Professor Hiromu Mizuno and Associate Professor Osamu Kozan of CSEAS.

As this was the first such meeting held by the university, self-introductions as well as situation updates were shared, with an amicable atmosphere pervading throughout. Executive Vice-President Ohnishi explained the registering system for the “Kyoto University Alumni Network” and outlined the program of reunion events, while various topics were discussed including possible cooperation between Indonesian-based alumni.

On the previous day, January 8, Executive Vice-President Ohnishi had also attended the “7th South East Asian Forum,” held at Hasanuddin University. The visit turned out to be a valuable step in strengthening ties with alumni in Indonesia.
