The general meeting of the Kyoto University Alumni Association of Hiroshima held

The 2010 general assembly of the Kyoto University Alumni Association of Hiroshima was held at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima Hotel in Hiroshima City.

The Kyoto University Alumni Association of Hiroshima is comprised of current and former residents of Hiroshima prefecture that graduated from Kyoto University (the former Imperial University, the current school, and the Graduate School), and currently has approximately 900 members.

At this assembly, 170 alumni attended, and following opening remarks by Association Chairman Kouichi Ikeuchi (Faculty of Engineering, class of 1953) and Executive Vice President Yuzo Onishi, an address was given by Professor Tetsuji Atsuji of the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, titled “Having fun with Chinese Letters (Kanji)”.

At the reception following the general assembly, a toast was given by Association Vice Chairman Toshio Hisayuki (Faculty of Law, class of 1956), and then members spent some time getting to know each other. There were also impromptu remarks given by Upper House Member Masaaki Taniai (Faculty of Agriculture, class of 1997) and former Hiroshima city council member Kunio Ohara (Faculty of Law, class of 1973). Following this, all members sang "The Lake Biwa Rowing Song" and the Kyoto University school song in unison, and then Association Vice Chairman Hiroyuki Hata (Faculty of Law, class of 1954) gave the closing remarks. The reception ended on a high note with an energetic “Banzai” cheer led by Honorary Chairman Yukio Tokunaga (Faculty of Engineering, class of 1947).
