General Meeting for Establishment of Coalition of Kyoto University Sports Union Alumni Associations held

A general meeting for the establishment of the Coalition of Kyoto University Sports Union Alumni Associations (a.k.a. Kyoto University Nouseikai[Dark Blue Association]) was held in the Shiran Kaikan Annex. There were a total of 80 participants, including alumni association representatives, Sports Union Chair Masato Nagata, the Sports Union Captain, and current Sports Union officers.

The Coalition of Sports Union Alumni Associations was established for the purpose of revitalizing individual alumni associations, enhancing support for current sports teams, supporting all-university efforts of the Sports Union, and contributing to the development of sports in general at Kyoto University.

This day comprised the general meeting, a special event and a social gathering. The general meeting began with lectures from the representative facilitator of the Nouseikai and the Sports Union Chair. It was confirmed that all alumni associations would unite as one and cooperate in resolving various issues faced by the Sports Union.

President Hiroshi Matsumoto attended the special event after the general meeting, where he gave a commemorative speech to celebrate the establishment of the Coalition of Sports Union Alumni Associations. Later, a former chair of the judo club, a former chair of the ice hockey club, the coach of the rowing club, and the head coach of the American football club explained the history and current status of the Sports Union as well as the instruction policies of each club, and presented requests and proposals to the university. There were active exchanges of opinions. Then, the social gathering was held and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

It is hoped that this establishment of the Coalition of Sports Union Alumni Associations will strengthen the ties between alumni and current club members.
