Professor Takashi Araki of the Graduate School of Biostudies receives the Kihara Memorial Foundation Academic Award

 Professor Takashi Araki of the Graduate School of Biostudies has received the Kihara Memorial Foundation Academic Award.

This award is presented by the Kihara Memorial Yokohama Foundation for the Advancement of Life Science, established in celebration of globally recognized achievements in the areas of genetics and evolutionary studies by the late Dr. Hitoshi Kihara (professor emeritus of this university), in order to encourage and commend researchers who conduct outstanding and creative researches in the field of life science. This is the 17th presentation of the award.
This award was presented in recognition of Professor Araki’s achievements in his research on the identification of the molecular mechanism which controls the flowering of plants, especially the flowering hormone (florigen).
The award ceremony is planned to be held on May 15, 2009 at the Kihara Institute for Biological Research in Yokohama City University.
