Press Conference for Professor Emeritus Toshihide Maskawa, Former Director of the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics Held at Yukawa Hall

  A press conference was held at 7:15pm on October 7 (Japan time) for Professor Emeritus Toshihide Maskawa, former Director of the Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, recipient of the 2008 Nobel Prize for Physics. The press conference was held in the Yukawa Hall’s Panasonic Auditorium.

  During the press conference Professor Maskawa, holding a copy of his published thesis, spoke about the research which lead to his Nobel Prize Nomination. Professor Maskawa also spoke about his student days, reminiscing about the earnest studiousness of fellow Nobel Prize recipient Professor Yoichiro Nambu.

  The press conference also featured the transmission of a congratulatory video message from Kyoto University president, Dr. Hiroshi Matsumoto, who was on an overseas business trip at the time.
