Tuition

  • As a rule, tuition is to be paid in two installments; in April and in October. The first semester tuition is paid in April, while the second semester tuition is paid in October.
  • A bank transfer application will be sent to the address of the person acting as the student’s guarantor around the middle of April and the middle of October. Payments should be made by bank transfer into the account designated by the University.
  • A request can be made to pay the second semester tuition at the same time that payment is made for the first semester.
  • Should tuition fees be revised during a student’s period of enrollment, the new amount will become effective from that point on.

Matriculation Fee

  • The Matriculation fee should be paid at the time of registration.

Entrance Examination Fee

  • The Entrance examination fee should be paid at the time an application for admission is submitted.

Tuition Exemption

  • Regular undergraduate and regular graduate students of excellent academic standing who are facing financial difficulties, may be eligible for an exemption of all or half of the tuition fee.
For further details, please refer to [Tuition Exemption].

※ Although the application for an exemption is open to all students, there is a limit to the number of exemptions granted.
※ Students coming from abroad to study at Kyoto University are advised to have sufficient funds before coming to Japan.
