Call for applications: 2019 Exploratory Research on Humanosphere Science

26 Apr 2019

    • 企業・研究者

In order to discover and promote exploratory research projects related to humanosphere science, which aims to provide a foundation for sustained survival of humanity, the Center for Exploratory Research on Humanosphere, Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), is inviting researchers to lead or participate in joint projects in "Exploratory Research on Humanosphere Science" as follows. The Center looks forward to receiving you application.

    Eligibility

In order to apply as a "director" of an Exploratory Research project, applicants must be:

    • Full-time instructors at Kyoto University (including fixed-term instructors) or at other national or public research institutes, or full-time researchers (including those affiliated with a National Research and Development Agency or Incorporated Administrative Agency), who are eligible to apply for Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research, or in comparable positions if based outside Japan
    • Or, deemed qualified to apply for the position by the Director of the Center for Exploratory Research on Humanosphere

There is no minimum age requirement for the project director position, and early-career researchers are especially encouraged to apply.

Each applicant may apply to lead one project only. Those not affiliated with RISH must specify one or more RISH members as their research collaborators and one as the "person responsible at RISH" for their project.

Please note the following about applying from abroad to be a project director:

    • Applications may be submitted from outside Japan. Such applicants are advised to consult with their would-be collaborators at RISH and decide on how they would conduct research in their home countries, and agree on a budget plan in advance because all the accounting procedures are to be conducted at RISH. It is recommended that applications from abroad be submitted by the "person responsible at RISH".

Those working under the supervision of another researcher or instructor, such as post-doctorate researchers, may apply to be collaborators. It is advised, however, that they first check to see whether doing so would be permitted by their organizations.

    Application deadline

    Friday 10 May 2019

    How to apply

Complete and email the specified application form (Microsoft Word document) to the "contact for applications" (below). The application form may change without notice, so please be sure to download the latest version via the following page:
