On 30-31 May, the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), Kyoto University Institute for Advanced Study (KUIAS), held its 23rd International Symposium "Emerging Science for Unlocking Cell's Secrets" at the iCeMS Main Building.

Exploring the integration of cell biology and materials science, the Symposium was comprised of six sessions. Over two days, 16 up-and-coming young scientists from Japan and overseas delivered talks on their research, each leading to a lively discussion. Between sessions they had coffee breaks, where the researchers discussed possible collaboration and other topics in a friendly atmosphere. About 160 researchers attended from the University and elsewhere.

The Symposium concluded successfully with closing remarks by iCeMS Professor Jun Suzuki, the Organizing Chair.
