Kazuhiro Nagata wins Hans Neurath Award (24 July 2017)

On 24 July, Dr Kazuhiro Nagata, professor emeritus at Kyoto University and visiting professor at Kyoto Sangyo University, received the 2017 Hans Neurath Award from the Protein Society, in a ceremony held in Montreal, Canada.

The Hans Neurath Award is conferred by the Protein Society, a leading organization in protein research, to individuals who have made exceptional achievements in basic research in related fields.

Professor Nagata has become the first Japanese national to receive the distinction, awarded for the fundamental discoveries he made on protein quality control in the endoplasmic reticulum.

In the ceremony, Professor Nagata received a certificate plaque from President Carol B Post of the Protein Society, and delivered a lecture on "Protein Quality Control in the Endoplasmic Reticulum".
