President Kazuo Oike visits sites of Kyoto University aid in the suburbs of Yogyakarta, Indonesia and performs commemorative tree-planting


At the local disaster prevention facility, Kyoto University President Kazuo Oike, accompanied by Dr. Satoko Hamamoto, Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) researcher, listens to villagers recount their experiences of the earthquake disaster.

Accompanied by his wife, President Oike listens to an explanation of traditional pekarengan (village home garden) provided by Professor Kosuke Mizuno, director of Kyoto University’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
