1. Job description


Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University (KUPRI) is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Research Associate to promote the activities of the advertised research program which aims to study biodiversity and conservation biology of non-human primates in south-east Asia. Without contributing to the administration of the institute, the successful candidate will be expected to conduct field research with particular emphasis of communicative behavior (vocalizations) and the ecology of gibbons and other primates of south-east Asia..


2. Application procedure:

Candidates are requested to submit the following set of documents in duplicate sets (copies acceptable).

  1. CV with detailed account of academic activity and research grant record.
  2. List of academic publications and reprints (one per set for each article).
  3. List of non-academic/popular publications and reprints (one per set for each article).
  4. Summary of research conducted (about 400 words).
  5. Summary of research plan to be conducted at KUPRI (about 400 words).

3. Selection procedure and feedback to candidates

A committee will be set up at KUPRI to evaluate all candidates, based on the documents submitted. The complete list of candidates will then be passed on to a general assembly of about 40 faculty members, all of whom will participate in a vote to select one candidate for the post. No further information will be available to candidates at any stage of the selection process. Each candidate will be informed of the final decision pertaining to him/herself only.
