Full Professor/Inland Earthquakes


The Research Center for Earthquake Prediction (RCEP), a Division of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University invites applications for a full professor position.

This is a permanent faculty position with research emphasis on inland earthquakes as related to earthquake prediction. The successful candidate is expected to lead research on stress accumulation and earthquake generation processes of inland active faults on the basis of integration of geophysical observations. Especially, research on crustal dynamics under heterogeneous structures with emphasis on the role of crustal fluids in the earthquake generation process is expected. There may be also responsibilities for teaching graduate courses and supervising the research of graduate students. The successful applicant is expected to be proficient in Japanese. He/she will be expected to start on April 1, 2007.

Applicants should prepare the following material: curriculum vitae, complete bibliography (peer reviewed papers and other publications), copies of 5 papers, a brief review of research and contributions (up to 2 A4 pages), a statement of research plans and interests (up to 2 A4 pages), and recommendation letters by 2 references or the list of names of 2 references (include their addresses, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses).
