The Center
for Ecological Research, Kyoto University, invites applications for
the following faculty position. Distinguished candidates are strongly

2. Qualification
Elucidating biodiversity and ecosystem in order to formulate a theory
for their conservation is the ultimate goal of our research at the
Center for Ecological Research (hereafter, referred to as the “Center”).
We encourage cross-disciplinary research based on teamwork; therefore,
we are seeking a candidate with a broad view on ecological issues
and a willingness to work in research teams. The candidate is expected
to carry out research projects that serve the goals of the Center,
and to be capable of achieving innovative results. In addition, the
candidates are expected to be involved in education, management, and
operation of the Center. Age and nationality will not be considered
as a criterium for the selection process. The Center is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative

4. To apply, for both applicants and those recommended, the
following application materials are to be submitted.
(1) An application letter addressed to Director of the Center
(2) A curriculum vitae
(3) A publication list ordered according to the following categories:
(a) Original manuscripts published in peer-reviewed academic
journals (mark five major publications).
(b) Reviews
(c) Books
(d) Others (transactions, proceedings, commentary articles,
and etc.)
(4) Six copies of the major publications (indicated in the publication
list). If available, commentaries on these articles will be appreciated.
(5) BRIEF Summary of previous research projects (max. 2,000 words
for all projects together)
(6) Scientific view on prospective research activity if the candidate
was to be selected (max. 2000 words)
(7) Name and address of two reference persons who can provide a statement
of the candidate’s research qualifications, character and dependability,
(8) Facultatively: recommendation letter(s).
Unless requested, the application materials will not be returned after
the selection process is completed.
The candidate may be requested to appear for a personal interview.
