The Gender Equality Promotion Center holds the 8th symposium, titled "Global Perspectives on Diversity in Japanese Universities –Benefits and Challenges" on May 23, 2014. The Center invites two international researchers.
Dr.Síle Nic Chormaic, from Ireland, received her Ph.D. in Physics from University of Paris XIII. She is currently working at OIST Graduate University as Associate Professor and serving on the IUPAP(International Union of Pure and Applied Physics)International Commission on Physics Education.
Associate Professor of Graduate School of Energy Science Dr. Benjamin Mclellan, from Australia, received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Queensland. He is one of the co-inventors of the SUSOP® (Sustainable Operations) methodology for integration sustainability principles in design of industrial projects.
They will speak about their life, career, studies and gender equality in Japanese Universities to share their experiences with participants. Presentations will be followed by a questionanswer session hosted by Assistant Professor Eiji Yamasue of the Center's Public Relations Working Group.

Temporary nursery care for children of participants at Shirankaikan Annex. The center furnishes temporary child care free of charge for children, 3months to 3rd grade of elementary school from 15:30 to 18:30. Advanced reservations are required for use of the nursery care.
