On 12 July, the "Kyoto Academia Forum" opening ceremony was held. The forum was co-founded by Kyoto University and nine partner universities in Kyoto on 3 July in the neighboring room of the KU Tokyo Office, located on the tenth floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building.

The Forum aims to disseminate academic information on culture, art, science and technology from Kyoto, and present its strength and merit.

The ceremony started with opening remarks from KU President Juichi Yamagiwa, followed by a briefing on the history and the detail of the Forum by Shinji Asonuma, KU executive vice-president for industry-government-academia collaboration. Then, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with representatives of the ten partnering universities and Kyoto City Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa.

Following the ceremony, a reception took place, starting with a toast and remarks from Kiyokazu Washida, president of Kyoto City University of Arts. The reception was attended by more than 100 people from the partner universities, the Diet, and the business world.
