"Kyoto University New Technology Presentation Meeting" held (19 May 2015)

Published on

Kyoto University's Office of Society-Academia Collaboration for Innovation (SACI), Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and Kansai Technology Licensing Organization Co., Ltd. (K-TLO) co-hosted a "Kyoto University New Technology Presentation Meeting" in the annex of JST Tokyo Headquarters at K's Gobancho (Ichigaya, Tokyo). Aimed at sharing academic achievements produced by universities, public research organizations, and JST with a wider audience for the common good, such presentation meetings have been jointly held by JST and research institutions over several decades. These meetings provide opportunities for inventors to make their own presentations on their licensable patents (including unpublished applications) and for participants from interested corporations to meet inventors one-on-one and discuss the possibility of match-ups which could result in collaborative research projects or licensing agreements.

The meeting on 19 May comprised 11 presentations on patents related to such topics as "materials", "devices", "biotechnology", and "information".

A number of participants from companies that are active in such fields listened attentively to the presentations, which were followed by lively interaction during the business cards exchange session. Given some long queues of participants interested in pursuing practical application of certain patents to meet the respective inventors in consultation booths, there is a strong expectation that new collaborative research projects, technology transfers, and further society-academia collaboration will result from the meeting.

SACI is committed to ongoing efforts to help KU's academic achievements contribute to innovation in Japan, and to the development of new industries and new markets.
