August 16, 2009
Ten students and two faculty members from Kunming University of Science and Technology, situated in Yunnan, China, visited Japan for thirteen days from August 16 to 28, 2009.
As part of an international exchange course between Kunming University of Science and Technology and Kyoto University by cooperation with the Graduate School of Agriculture, Kyoto University appreciated the opportunity to be hosting Kunming's students during their trip. Kunming's students attended classes and participated in various excursions and activities. In exchange, Kyoto University students will visit Kunming as part of the same course starting September 15.
During Kunming students' stay, in addition to attending lectures at Kyoto University, they learned about Kyoto and its surrounding areas through field-trip to Shiga and Nara.
They were also introduced to traditional Japanese cultures such as otsuzumi (an hourglass-shaped Japanese drum used in Noh plays) and the dressing in kimono.
Kyoto's students participated actively in this program to deepen their relationships, and promised to meet again in Kunming.
