Department of Social Informatics, Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University (Japan) invites applications for Associate Professor Positions at "International Course for Social Informatics," a newly established course. International Course for Social Informatics is at the Doctor and Master Levels, and is mainly for foreign students. The course's
language is English, i.e. all classes and research work will be done in English.

The successful candidate should not be a Japanese. He/She must have a Ph.D. degree, a strong research background and a commitment to teaching excellence, and an outstanding record in his/her research in
the following area:
System Dynamics, Environmental issue, GIS, Field research and Statistics.
The successful candidate should be able to teach master course classes "Biosphere Informatics", and "Information System Analysis."
The successful candidate should also be able to teach a master course class "Social Informatics." The topics of this class includes Information Security, Information Economy, Digital Rights, Digital Ethics and IT Policy and Agenda.

The starting date of the position is March 1st, 2010 or date to be agreed upon. The successful candidate must develop course material before the course starts accepting students in October 2010. The position is not permanent. The contract term is from its start to March 31, 2014.

v) summary of 3-5 major publications and copies of these papers,

If the teaching records and/or research achievements of the candidate are not enough to be hired as an Associate Professors, there may be a case the candidate are hired as a Senior Lecturer.
