Important Legal Procedures (Alien Registration, Status of Residence, etc.)
According to the Alien Registration Law, all foreign nationals who intend to stay in Japan for more than 90 days must register at the City/Ward Office which has jurisdiction over the area they live. When the occasion arises, applications are required at the local immigration office, for extension of period of stay, change of status of residence, and re-entry permit.
Besides, there are a number of articles prohibited and restricted from entry by Japanese law. Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in punishment, suspension of scholarship, and exclusion from the university.
