Tutor System

If deemed necessary by their supervisors, international students may receive guidance through a tutoring system that assists undergraduate students in their first two years in Japan, and graduate students and certain research students in their first year in Japan. However, those who are enrolled in the International Center under the direction of Monbukagakusho (MEXT) will be assigned tutors essentially after finishing the Japanese language courses. Generally, a tutor is a graduate student selected from the graduate school to which an international student belongs.

Whether the advice/assistance given by the tutors will more focus on research or daily life will depend on the needs of the international student, so it is recommended that students relay their concerns to their academic advisors.Details are available at faculty/graduate school offices.
