From 27 June through 29 July, the Institute of Advanced Energy (IAE), in collaboration with the Graduate School of Energy Science (GSES), hosted a credit-bearing internship program for seven students from the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand.

The interns each worked in one of seven GSES laboratories on a project that had been assigned to them based on their departmental affiliation.

In addition to lab work, the program included a field trip to a waste-management company and a tea producer, as well as Byodoin Temple. The students also went sightseeing in and around Kyoto, attending the Gion Festival while wearing yukata together with their Japanese counterparts.

During the final week, the interns delivered presentations and submitted lab notebooks for grading. Program supervisors were impressed with the students' work, expressing confidence in their ability to make the most of their experiences at GSES as they continue their studies in Thailand.
