The 'KIZUNA' event for September was an Uji-Temari (Japanese traditional thread balls) -making workshop taught by members of the volunteer group Uji-Temari no Kai. Participants chose a core and threads of their favorite colors from many colorful materials, and worked on making temari key chains with a small bell under the guidance of teachers. They initially seemed to struggle with wrapping thread properly, but eventually completed beautiful key chains. The event concluded with participants and teachers enjoying the opportunity for cross-cultural communication, and participants learning the history of temari .
