The Center for Cultural Heritage Studies carries out excavations, field surveys and other projects on the many sites of archaeological value in and around the Kyoto University campuses. The center works in cooperation with teams from the departments of archaeology, architecture, geography, geology, and anthropology. Project sites range from prehistoric cemeteries to Edo period clay mines.
