North Comprehensive Education and Research Building

The North Comprehensive Education and Research Building was built in 2011. As the whole building is defined as an interdepartmental common space which may be used flexibly to suit changing needs, it offers not only spaces for research projects but also spaces for common use open to temporary uses (event hall, conference rooms, etc.)

Located on the North Campus of Yoshida Campus, the building is designed to create a harmony of the whole campus landscape -- its exterior appearance intends to be in harmony especially with the adjacent building of Yukawa Institute for Theoretical Physics, while complying with Kyoto City's landscape design policy since the area falls under the "Aesthetic landscape district (Mountain-range-background)" and "Vistaed View Preservation Zone" under the city's landscape ordinance.

Furthermore, as a research and education facility within the university, we also focus on environmental issues and endeavor to minimize heat loads and lifecycle CO2 emissions concerning the building.
