Former Head Office of Forest Research Station

Kyoto University's Former Head Office of Forest Research Station is one of the characteristic buildings on the North Campus constructed in 1931. It is a bungalow-style wooden building with Spanish-tile roofing and verandas, full of fresh details of modernism, such as those shown in ceiling decoration. Furthermore, it was designated as a registered tangible cultural property building in 1998: now that the building has earned a certain esteem as a cultural property, it is worth handing over to future generations as a cultural asset. In 2010, after a seismic reinforcement and interior repair work, it was renovated into an interdepartmental common space  for use by all sectors of the university.
