KIZUNA's November event is an ukiyo-e workshop, taught by professional craftsmen from Takezasado Co Ltd (link below).

Ukiyo-e is a genre of Japanese woodblock print art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries.

Participants will make New Year's cards using the techniques of this art. The finished cards can then be taken home as souvenirs, as can the woodblock used to print them. All necessary implements, including carving knives and pigments, will be provided at the venue.

There will also be a demonstration by the craftsmen, who will print Katsushika Hokusai's Kanagawa Oki Namiura (The Great Wave off Kanagawa), the artist's best-known work, depicting boats being tossed about by a large wave against the backdrop of Mt Fuji.

This will be a great opportunity to experience a Japanese traditional art and make new friends.

KIZUNA looks forward to your participation.
