The January 'KIZUNA' event is a Japanese calligraphy workshop to be held in conjunction with the COCOLOIKI project, which is operated by the Education and Research Unit for Regional Alliances, Center for the Promotion of Interdisciplinary Education and Research Education (C-PIER).
The workshop will be taught by calligraphy teachers from Sumizome Shodo Kai, which is active at the Kyoto Prefectural International Center.
In Japan, the first calligraphy writing of the year is called "kakizome" and is a part of the New Year's tradition.
At the workshop, you will choose your favorite kanji or auspicious words, practice writing them with a brush, and, finally, write them on a shikishi (signature board) for taking home as a souvenir. It will be a great way to start a new year.
It will also be a good opportunity to broaden your knowledge about Japan's New Year tradition.
We are looking forward to your participation.
