KU ASEAN Center and JASTIP jointly exhibit at the Thai National Science and Technology Fair (18-28 August 2016)

From 18 through 28 August, the Kyoto University ASEAN Center and Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology, and Innovation Platform (JASTIP) jointly exhibited at the National Science and Technology Fair 2016, held at the IMPACT Exhibition Center in suburban Bangkok. The ASEAN Center-JASTIP booth shared a corner of the Japan pavilion with the Cabinet Office, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), as well as the University of Tokyo and Osaka University.

Co-organized by Thailand's Ministry of Science & Technology and National Science Museum, the Fair is one of the country's largest science events with over a million visitors each year. The 2016 Fair featured pavilions for domestic research institutes, universities, and businesses as well as for countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.

The opening ceremony took place on 19 August, on which date the ASEAN Center-JASTIP booth received visits from Dr Pichet Durongkaveroj, the Thai minister of science and technology, Dr Thaweesak Koanantakool, president of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), and Mr Shiro Sadoshima, ambassador of Japan to the Kingdom of Thailand.
