The Uji Campus New Year Party, called Shinnen Gorei-kai in Japanese, is an annual event aimed at promoting exchanges among those working in this part of Kyoto University and collaboration among their departments. With guests including members of the Administration Office in addition to the faculty and staff of the Faculties, Graduate Schools, and Institutes, the event is also intended to foster a sense of community throughout the campus.

This year's party, held at Uji Obaku Plaza, began with New Year's greetings from Professor Yasuaki Kishimoto, Director of the Institute of Advanced Energy, which is in charge of running the Deans and Directors Meetings on the Uji Campus. Following a toast by Professor Naoto Oshiman, Director of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), which will be in charge of the Meetings next fiscal year, guests began to mingle and chat with each other in a festive atmosphere. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fresh feeling of a new year, and the party ended on a high note.
